As you slide between these to pictures, ask yourself:
What time of day is it? What season? Why would the bear go to the lake?
What is in the lake? Does it look like you would want to swim in the lake?

What has happened to the lake?
What are these animals? How did they get here? What happened to the fish?
Zebra mussels are not native to the US. They were carried here by accident in boats traveling from Eurasia to Lake Michigan in 1988. They have since spread to every watershed in the United States. Flathead Lake is at the head of the Columbia Watershed – the last remaining mussel free watershed in the United States.
Once the mussels get in a lake, they quickly cover every surface and eat the food that native animals need. Their shells are razor sharp and they make it difficult for native species to walk along shorelines.
Cleaning, draining, and drying boats, buckets, and gear keep invasive animals like mussels out of the lake!
